Not really a big fan of chalkboards (I'm allergic) and I really get annoyed when I see it being applied to different parts of the room where it's really a bit impractical. I mean, chalkboard paint on the wall by your bed, really? Do you really want to inhale all that dust?
Anyway, this is a pretty nice application of it though - in the kitchen, where you list down your groceries:
I am a big luggage fan, but I go for more vintage look than modern. Of course I like efficiency, but I suspect I would forgo it for a really classy and elegant look that might not fit very much. This, however, puts form and function together quite well:
